I visit three to four clients per day, never less than 45 minutes, so am never rushed to provide the right level of care, plus a chat and a cup of tea.
I have been a regular carer for an 80-year-old gentleman who has limited mobility. I support him in doing things that are difficult for him, such as washing, dressing, making his bed and doing his laundry, even feeding his fish in the garden pond.
During the evening call, I prepare a hot meal and I ensure he has everything he needs to hand for the night and the next morning. I have built up a great rapport with him and his three daughters. He knows he can ask me anything, without any embarrassment at all. I raise any concerns to the lead nurse regarding his health or my support team for care plan or any general issues.
He says he is over the moon with the care he receives from Saga, and looks forward to seeing us twice a day.
I absolutely love my job, making a difference to all my clients’ lives.
