Reinforcing the fact that community spirit is still very much alive in St Albans, awards are given out to those people who have contributed to local life. They can come in the form of a volunteer, fundraiser, good neighbour or even a role model like a police officer or nurse.
Now in it's 4th year, The Herts Advertiser Community Awards honour those who have helped the community. Three of our carers were nominated for “Carer of the Year”. This award is for someone who has given up their time to look after someone else.
Jackie, one of our Team Leaders was there to cheer them on.
“Canapés and prosecco were offered to all in the foyer, of The Maltings, St Albans. We made our way through to the award ceremony lounge, took our seats and waited for the evening to start.
The Host was introduced on stage - none other than TV Sports broadcaster, David Croft. David was excellent, funny, showed compassion and was genuinely a good host.
There were various award presenters from the local community and lots of nominated finalists for various community carers and helpers, within St Albans and Harpenden area.
The awards and nominees were announced, so down the stairs went our very own Saga Carers, Theresa, Josephine and Aibilin. All received certificates recognising their outstanding work in homecare.
They were presented their awards - a lovely picture framed certificate and photos were professionally taken.
We were then left to enjoy the rest of the ceremony from the comfort of our own seats."
A huge well done and congratulations to all the winners, as well as all those nominated.
